Construction of the new $1.5m boat launch opened during the summer of 2005.
The long anticipated boat launch project was finally completed during the summer of 2005. The City had been working on a replacement ramp for more that ten years due to the dilapidated ramp and inadequate parking downtown.
The new launch facility is located at the west end of Riverfront Park (just west of Vetern's Way and West "A" Street) and boasts concrete boarding floats, wave attenuation/debris deflection, two lane concrete ramp, 80 plus parking spaces and new bathroom facilities. The park also connects to the Rainier Riverfront Trail and Riverfront Park.
The project was financed through a $968,000 grant from the Oregon State Marine Board, $500,000 from the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife and $106,000 from the City's urban renewal agency Redco.
Come check out this new facility and enjoy the City's Riverfront Park while you are downtown.
