Russ Reigel New Interim Public Works Director

At its Monday, March 4 meeting, the Rainier City Council voted unanimously to appoint Russ Reigel as the city’s new interim public works director.

Reigel, a longtime resident of the Rainier area, most recently worked as a maintenance supervisor at Shaver Transportation Company at its Portland facility. He spent nearly two decades in that role and his duties included supervising 12 employees and enforcing safety protocols.

Prior to that, Reigel spent around ten years managing a team of 14 at Madill Equipment in Kalama.

Reigel earned an Associate of Arts and Science degree from Lower Columbia College in Longview and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Portland State University.

“We’re happy to have Russ taking on this important role in the city,” Mayor Jerry Cole said. “His deep local ties, knowledge, experience and skill sets should serve the city and its residents well.”

Reigel is set to start with the City Monday, March 12.
