City of Rainier Planning Commission

Planning Commission Members
Position /Term Name / Title
#1 01-20-20 / 12-31-23 Erin O'Connell, Chairperson
Erin O'Connell
Erin O'Connell

Erin relocated to Oregon in 2005 with her husband. They have two adult children and two four legged kids. Coming from living rurally, they wanted to live in a small town but also close to the big city to have new experiences. Rainier offered a unique opportunity for this and the town has become home with great neighbors and a beautiful environment.

Erin works in public service for Columbia County and believes in making people's lives better. Participation in government is a right all citizens have and is extremely important. Volunteering and helping to make a positive impact is very rewarding and she looks to make a difference for the community of Rainier.

#2 01-20-20 / 12-31-23 Laura Trethewey
Laura Trethewey
Laura Trethewey

Laura Trethewey is a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest and has called Rainier home since 2015. Between owning and working with small businesses since 2011 and becoming a mother in 2018, Laura is deeply committed to building and supporting her community. She passionately believes that volunteering creates change and is dedicated to helping create amenities in Rainier that will benefit the entire community.

As a cartographer, Laura has a deep appreciation for the beautiful topography of our region and extends that care to encompass her community with the hope that each individual and family will thrive and grow.

#3 01-01-20 / 12-31-23 Dena Nordstrom, Vice Chairperson
Dena Nordstrom
Dena Nordstrom

Dena and her family moved to Rainier in 2015 from Oregon City. Her and her husband wanted to get away from the big city and raise their kids in a smaller town. Dena has 5 children and 5 grandchildren.

Dena started volunteering immediately when she moved to Rainier. Hope of Rainier was the first of many along with Toy N Joy, REDCO and even did some softball coaching. Now she sits on the Planning Commission and has high hopes to move Rainier towards the future, but still keep its small-town appeal.

#4 01-01-20 / 12-31-23 Paul Langner
#5 01-01-20 / 12-31-23 Nina Phillips
Nina Phillips
Nina Phillips

Nina Phillips is a mother of three grown girls, a wife and business partner to her husband John Phillips. They've owned Easy Living Construction for six years and Hometown Pizza for three years.

Nina and her husband moved to Rainier just over a year ago, but it felt like more of a formality, with as many years as they've spent volunteering within the community.
